💭 Are you dreaming of turning your creative talents into a lucrative home-based venture? 🏡✨ What’s that you say – work in your PJs? 😁 Yes sir, yes ma’am! ✔️
If you have dreamed of having an online space but didn’t know where to really start, here is some helpful info to get you started.
I will follow this blog post with additional information I have learned along my way. I will include links to training that I used to maneuver the tech side 🤯 of the blog and ways I grow my audience. I eventually realized that it would take me F O R E V E R to get all of the training I needed to ramp up my business and I will share with you what I did to help speed the learning curve.
I have had several websites and blogs over the years and man, has technology advanced tremendously over those years. It’s a blessing and a curse. Haha. Incredible tools are available now to help with so, so much on your web site.
Anyhoo. If you don’t just jump in with both feet, you’ll never realize your dreams. So here we go. YOU CAN DO THIS. I promise.
Here are the initial steps I took when I started my affiliate marketing business. This is the jumping off point. Let’s goooo!
First of all, set the stage. Choose the niche you will be blogging about.
Narrow down the topics you will cover by choosing topics that truly are interesting to you. What could you talk about for long periods of time? What is your creative vibe – or your passion? That’s your niche.
Choose a domain name.
Just like an artist signs their masterpiece, your domain name is your virtual signature. Pick something that resonates with your niche. A catchy name for your business but don’t get creative with the spelling. 🎨 You need to be easy to locate on the internet. A weird spelling will have to be explained every single time you tell someone about your blog. ugh
Be sure to purchase you own domain name and self host your page. This means your web address ends in [your domain name].com or .net, etc. and not wordpress.com or blogspot.com. Buy your domain name when setting up your page and many of the hosting platforms will give you your domain free for the first year. WIN! 🎉
This page contains affiliate links. I earn a small commission for qualifying purchases, at no cost to you.
Of course, talk to your tax professional about setting up your business legally in your state/city/county and applying for your tax identification number. Yeah, ya have to pay taxes on all that affiliate marketing income. 💰
Build your artistic hub.
There are many hosts for blogging. After much research and experience with other platforms, I chose Bluehost. Their platform is easy to work with, there are gobs of free plug-ins and widgets and there is plenty of online support for any process that I searched for. If you would like to go with Bluehost, here is my affiliate link to get you started.
Choose a website theme that echoes your artistic style and start building your online gallery. 🖼️ I actually did purchase my theme through Etsy with 17th Avenue Designs at this affiliate link.
Don’t wait until you feel like the website is perfect. Just go LIVE with it asap! You can tweak your content as you continue to learn. Get your presence out there and get going. 🏃🏼♀️
Apply to affiliate marketing platforms.
Once you start getting approved as an affiliate, find products and services that you love and share them on your page. Write about your experiences and add the affiliate links to your blog posts.
Promote your page.
Craft content that showcases your talents and interests. Share tutorials, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and personal stories. If you are a crafter or DIYer, your audience wants to see the artist behind the art. Share your blog page on all of your socials and tell people who you think will enjoy your posts.
The online audience craves uniqueness and authenticity so infuse your content with your personality. Your readers aren’t just buying products; they’re investing in a piece of your creative soul.
It takes time to grow your page and gain subscribers. Most of the time, it takes months and sometimes years to see income from a new affiliate marketing web site. Be patient and consistently post your content to see your online growth. You got this!
