We had to find THE PERFECT house plan to build amongst the pecan trees.
The house had to have big porches and a great outdoor space with an open area to enjoy the big breeze that always blows my hair out of place when we walk the property.
Driveway on the left.
Kitchen in the back with a window overlooking that beautiful pasture.
Open floor plan. We want to have friends and family visit often.
Laundry near the primary closet.
It has to be a farmhouse look.
After a WHOLE LOT OF SEARCHING, we ended up in the architects office. I think home building is more complicated for crafty minded folks. Whew. All the boxes have to be checked.
And there are a lot extra boxes for people like me. I have so many ideas. My brain is, as Troy Polamalu says, “Never not working”. Ha ha. I get on my own nerves with it some times. HA HA!
A place for the old stained glass window and a place for the rustic antique grandfather clock that we will use as a beam in the foyer. Yes, a grandfather clock hanging near the ceiling in our home. Stay tuned.
Okay. The plans are back from the architect. All ready!
Let the building begin!
YAY!
Oh. pandemic. I hate to be a name-caller. But…party pooper…
And yay. No windows. No doors. Very few workers. Delays. Substitutions. Surprises…… What next? Building a home is an adventure in itself and doesn’t need any help causing a little anxiety and aggravation.
Anyway. What can you do. We pushed through it all, stirred up the dust and poured the slab.
It was an exciting day. I drove past the concrete trucks coming and going on the interstate on my way out to the country to celebrate our big day with my husband.
This isn’t our first rodeo but it is always exciting to get the build started. Let’s go!
