💖🖼️ There is so much fun in finding vintage frames in antique and thrift shops that can be used to decorate for various holidays. This DIY project is close to my heart 💘 because I am using my personal stash of Valentine’s Day greeting cards that I have collected over the years.

If you haven’t been hoarding your greeting cards, don’t be sad. Amazon has cards that have a similar look that will help you get a vintage look. Check them out here.
Shopping for vintage frames that coordinate well together has been the highlight of my shopping trips to my local antique shops and thrift stores. While we were building our home, I started the hunt for frames that would look good in our new built-in bookshelves in the den.
During one trip, I happened upon several frames that coordinated well together so I nabbed them. I was so excited about these frames because they showed age. Cha Ching! They were relatively the same dimensions. Cha Ching! And the colors went so well together and with my other decor. CHA CHING! lol
Again, you can get a vintage look by shopping online, even for the picture frames. I found super cute frames that truly do look vintage here.
When I started shopping for frames, I kept photos in the notes in my phone with the dimensions that I would need for the collection. This always comes in handy when I am planning and curating. If I locate an item I am not certain will fit in the space, I pop open my notes and voilà! I immediately know if I should grab it for the project. SO convenient! What would we do without phones, these days? 🙃
Of course, Etsy has great frames, too. I also keep an eye out, wherever I am shopping, for holiday napkins and gift bags. These are great to use for simple and quick projects for every holiday!
So, for this project, I pulled out my favorite Vintage frames from the stash and found a vintage card for each that looked good in the frame and coordinated well with my other Valentines decorations.
I removed the back from each picture frame and pulled the glass out to use as a template.
I played around with the glass, placing it on various areas of the greeting card to determine which area of the card design would look best in the frame.
Once I got the look I was wanting, I outlined the glass with a pencil and then cut the card to fit the frame. I left the old pictures in the frame behind the Valentines artwork, so I can easily switch those out after Valentine’s Day.
Use the frames for any holiday. I placed them on the foyer table and throughout our built-in bookshelves in the den. The frames would look nice on the nightstands also and hanging in groups on the wall.
Gift bags and holiday napkins could be used for this project, too. I have framed fabric, pillow panels and even an old Christmas sweater (it was a pretty pink one, lol – not an ugly sweater contest winner. 😅)
Here is a link to re-purposed Santa Claus Christmas gift bags that I framed and hung in our guest bedroom. This is one of the favorite projects that I have posted about. I do think that I will be on the hunt for a couple of more decorative frames for another Santa gift bag framing project. I have a thing for Santas and these would be great with my vintage Santa mug collection. Oh, SO. Fun! Anyway, enough about Christmas. 🧑🏻🎄
if you try the Valentine frame project, let me know in the comments.
So simple. So versatile. So fun. And so inexpensive.
And here’s my Valentine’s Christmas tree.
Have fun today!
