The Big Elf’s Sleep Cap: A Festive Crafting Tale
‘Twas the night before Christmas, a special guest on the way,
Scurrying through the craft room, no time for delay.
A Christmas cap in mind, a tired elf in my head,
This project can’t linger, he is ready for bed!
White scrap fabric whispered promises of cheer,
Red fabric chimed in, “Christmas magic is near!”
No needles, no thread, time was slipping away,
In the blink of an eye, he’d be ready to hit the hay.
Glue became my hero, my crafty sidekick,
No need for stitches, the glue does the trick.
To the yarn room, I zoomed, like Santa’s swift sleigh,
Scissors in hand, ready to snip, trim, and play.
A great gift for the big elf, Santa will love his cap,
In a jiff, he will be all set for his nap.
Now, let the rhyme guide you, it’s as easy as pie,
Craft your own magic, reach for the sky.
In the craft room, I danced, with joy and with glee,
Soft white fabric in hand, a vision to see.
Red joined the party, a festive affair,
No time for stitches, no time for despair.
The yarn room called, a magical space,
Zooming in swiftly, like Santa’s own race.
Scissors awaited on the shelf with delight,
A great gift in mind, & it won’t take all night.

The Big Elf’s Night Cap 🧑🏻🎄
What you need to make it:
As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualified purchases.
Store-bought Santa hat or knit cap
white scrap fabric
red scrap fabric
fabric glue – here is a link to the washable glue that I used
scissors ✂️
pencil ✏️
red yarn – here is the link to the yarn
clothes pin
What to do:
Measure the band of a store-bought santa hat or knit cap you are using as a template. Mine is 12” wide so I doubled it and added 1” for the seam. The height of the band is 5”.
Next, fold the white fabric in half and lay the red band fabric on it. The white fabric will be the same width as the red band. Cut. Draw a 28” straight line at an angle. Cut.
Fold the band in half lengthwise and glue all raw edges together 1/4” from the edges.
Next, slip the band over the white cap, matching up the two seams, and glue all raw edges together.
To make the tassel, wrap the yarn around your hand 35 wraps. How fun! Leave a 8” tail of yarn to tie off with. Place the wrapped yarn on a pencil and wrap the tail around the yarn just below the pencil to form a tassel. Tie off.
Insert the tail into the gathered end of cap tip. Glue and let dry with a clothes pin.
Easy, fast & fun! Now you are all set to keep the big elf guy warm while he rests all tucked away in your guest room.
